Discovery 101 is a four-week class for those who are new to the Lutheran Church. We will explain our beliefs on many issues, such as baptisms, communion and other relevant issues. Childcare is provided.
Discovery 201: Welcome to Gloria Dei
Sunday, May 18 from 3-7 p.m.
Discovery 201 is a one-afternoon interactive experience for everyone joining Gloria Dei. Come meet the staff and others who are joining. Learn more about Gloria Dei, and the privileges and responsibilities of membership. Childcare and a meal is provided.
Care Callers
A group of caring members of Gloria Dei will be calling our members periodically throughout the year. The purpose of their call is to gather prayer requests, talk about any concerns or to simply say hello.
Prayer Ministry
At times, you may need more prayer support; therefore we have a group of people willing and able to pray for your urgent needs. We have prayer request cards beneath the pews in the Sanctuary. You can also submit prayer requests by calling Diane Young at 993-3870 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Joan Kickbush after 5 p.m. at 987-4864; or e-mail prayer requests to Pastor Phillips.
Of course, if you need to talk to a pastor, please call the church office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If a need arises during other hours, please call 276-1700 and select option 5 for “pastoral care” and leave a message. A pastor will get back to you as soon as possible.
Support Groups
Our support groups are designed to help people who are facing difficult situations. We will continue to launch new groups that will help bring Jesus Christ to the hurting and the sick for the first time and for a lifetime. Childcare is provided.
Please feel free to join us at any time for all of our adult support goups; new people are always welcome.
We realize that your needs may not wait until a new class begins, therefore, feel free to call Pastor Phillips at any time for help.
Grief Support Groups
GriefShare for Adults: Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.
GriefShare is a 13-week grief support group for people dealing with the reality and pain of losing a loved one. Each session consists of a video presentation, sharing and prayer time. Please feel free to join us at any time.
Stepping Stones for Children: Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.
Stepping Stones is a 6-week grief-support group for young children aimed at providing children a safe place to process their grief. Different medias, such as play, sensory activities, puppetry and movement exercises will be used to reach children at their level. Each session will be divided into two age groups: 3 to 5-year-olds and 6 to 10-year-olds. If interested, please call Lynn Meyer at 986-5653. For more information.
Cancer Support Group
BSC - Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.
A breast cancer support group, is offered to encourage survivors of breast cancer. Each session will include three components: an in-depth study of God’s word and questions relating to the illness, a sharing time and a prayer time.
Divorce Support Group
Tuesdays from 6:30-8 p.m.
DivorceCare, a 13-week divorce support group, will help people recover from the pain and separation of divorce. Sessions will involve video presentations from renowned counselors and speakers, and a chance to connect to others in a similar situation.
Preparing for Marriage

Preparing for Marriage is a six-week class that is required for all couples getting married at Gloria Dei. This class will help a couple explore various aspects of their relationship and assist them in forming a solid Christ-centered relationship. The cost is $20 per couple, which includes the cost of the books.
